My Vacation, Part 2

I’ve had a very interesting time since last I posted.

Lightning struck a tree near our cabin last night and there were terrible storms for several hours.

I took as much of a shower as I could this morning, considering that the sinks here have 15 times the water pressure of the showers. And I’m almost certain that the German man in the next shower over was smoking while he showered…

I went to the Kennedy Space Center this morning and went strait to the Star Trek exhibit.

They had all kinds of props and costumes and I even snuck over the railing and had my picture taken with Worf.

I went on a space shuttle take off simulator that simulated what it would feel like to travel at 17,000 mph.

I then did the Star Trek Live show and bought a Tribble.

Finally, we took a tour bus over the the Saturn V Rocket Center where they had the command modules from several of the Apollo missions.

/p>They also had a full-sized replica of The Robot from Lost in Space. It had been my dream for years to built my own working replica of this robot, and now I am more eager than ever to do so.

I came back to the campground and watched “The Trouble with Tribbles” with my Tribble, which I christened, “Gary.”

Even though the day is almost over, I still have a lot more in store in the next few days.

Thoughts on Lost. (Contains spoilers)

don’t see why everyone made such a big deal about the series finale of Lost. I think the ending was superb. Yes, it did leave a few unanswered questions, but for the most part, it tied everything up.
I mean it would have been nice to know why Dr. Marvin Kandle’s (Pier Chang’s) name changes and why he had a prosthetic hand in one episode? And why everyone could see Jacob in the end? And who made all of the caves with the strange symbols and the temple? And why the statue only had three toes? And who plugged up the hole in the heart of the island? And where Richard found eyeliner hundreds of years ago? And why Hurley didn’t lose any weight while he was on the island? And why he needs to protect the island if the unnamed smoke monster is dead? But, you know, we didn’t really need to know the answers to these questions anyway……
It was a very universal ending. Everyone still made it to this “new place” despite the bad they did. And the church they were in, had articles from virtually every major religion, signifying that no matter what you believe, you end up in a good place.
Of course there was the issue of Michael being trapped on the island as punishment for murdering Libby and AnaLucia, but in the epilogue, “A New Man In Charge”, Ben tells Walt that he is special and that he can help his father, even though he is dead. This probably means that he will go and purge his fathers sins somehow and free him from the island.
One thing I don’t understand is the numbers: 4 8 15 16 23 42. These numbers appear in major plot pieces such as the flight number, 815, as well as in the background of many episodes. The only explanation given for the numbers is that Jacob “had a thing for numbers”, but this doesn’t explain why Hurley was cursed when he used them for his lottery ticket or why they appear on the side of the Hatch. I thought the numbers would be some type of equation the Faraday worked out, but apparently, it was all just a coincidence that the numbers appear everywhere……
